Jaya Ahsan in Aniruddha Roy’s ‘Dear Maa’

Popular actor Jaya Ahsan works mostly in Bangladeshi and Indian Bengali films. The five times Bangladesh National Awards and three Filmfare Awards-winning artiste is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Indian director Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s ‘Kadak Singh’ this week.
The noted actor is likely to collaborate again with Aniruddha Roy in a Bengali film. According to a report on anandabazar online, Aniruddha is making a Tollywood movie titled ‘Dear Maa’ after ten-year hiatus and he has a plan to cast Jaya Ahsan in his next project.
The director is reluctant to reveal too much about the story of the film. Talking to the anandabazar, Aniruddha said, “Dear Maa contains a different kind of relationship story. Shakyajit Bhattacharya wrote the screenplay with me. I don’t want to say anything more now.”
While asking about the cast of the film, he said, “I want to do the film with Saswata Chatterjee and Jaya Ahsan. I’ve already discussed with them.
But, it is not finalised yet. Saswata and Jaya will be seen as a couple in the film. Thinking about the rest of the casting of the film is going on. There will also be two child actors in the project.”
The director said that if everything goes according to the plan, the shooting of this film will start in Kolkata by February-March next year.
Aniruddha’s last Bengali film was ‘Bunohans’. Dev and Srabanti played the lead roles in that film. Since then, Anirudh thought of directing a Bengali film at different times, but it did not happened due to various reasons.
