On the occasion of International Workers' Day, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s North Siddhirganj Thana branch organized a large rally in Narayanganj, where party leaders promised to establish a hospital for workers in the area. The rally was held on Thursday (May 1) at 4 PM, with Maulana Abdul Jabbar, Central Executive Committee member and Ameer of Jamaat’s Narayanganj Metropolitan branch, as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Maulana Mostafa Kamal, Ameer of the North Siddhirganj Thana branch. Among others present were Narayanganj Metropolitan Secretary Engineer Monowar Hossain and Assistant Secretary Mohammad Jamal Hossain. In his speech, Abdul Jabbar highlighted the significance of May Day, recalling the sacrifices of the 1886 Chicago labor movement and stating, “It was on this day that the demand for fair wages and an 8-hour workday began. Jamaat-e-Islami is now committed to ensuring justice, social protection, and the rights of working people.”He further stated that if Jamaat comes to power, a hospital would be built in Narayanganj specifically for workers and underprivileged individuals, where they would receive free medical treatment. Special arrangements would be made for female workers, especially in the garment sector, to ensure their safety. Criticizing the previous government, Abdul Jabbar said, “You know that under the fascist Hasina regime, we couldn’t bring any social programs to you. Even mosque Imams were not allowed to speak. But now the time has changed. Hasina has fled in the face of student and public protests. We must now work together—regardless of party affiliation—to rebuild the nation.”
