Ramana Ghat lessee Shahidullah Qaiser Emu has been allegedly occupying the restroom built for common passengers and putting up shutters in Chilmari river Port Ramnaghat area of Kurigram.

The construction workers stopped the work when the concerned UP Member Roknuzzaman Swapan obstructed the installation of shutters.

Then Chilmari UNO Md.Minhajul Islam visited the spot based on the complaints of locals . He said, the shutters are being opened to keep the passenger canopy open. The rest will be opened soon.

On investigation, it was found that the Bajra Dyar Khata Primary School, built for the pedestrians of the Chilmari river port, has been divided into two parts by a brick wall between the passenger cantonment adjacent to the primary school. In front of which the ghat lessee is trying to protect the possession by putting up shutters.

It can be seen on the ground, on the instructions of UNO, the shutters of a part of the passenger tent have been removed on Thursday.

He assured the locals that the rest of the shutters will be removed soon.

Local UP member Roknuzzaman Swapan said that the passenger tent is for the general public. People will use it. Here the niece of the State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Zakir Hossain , Shahidullah Kaiser, used her influence to seize public resources.

Later I informed the administration with the help of locals. After that, the administration took measures to clear the passenger encroachment.

Shahidullah Qaiser Imu, the lessee of the ghat, denied the complaint of passenger encroachment and said, I am not involved with them. I renovated the abandoned ghat shed for ticket sales, vehicle night guard rest.
