Indonesian plane with 59 passengers goes missing

A plane carrying more than 50 passengers has gone missing in Indonesia. It lost contact shortly after takeoff from the capital, Jakarta, on Saturday (January 09), according to Reuters.
The Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737 lost contact en route to Pontianak in West Kalimantan province, officials said.
According to Flightradar24.com, a flight tracking website, the plane had lost more than 3,000m (10,000ft) in altitude in less than a minute.
The transport ministry said search and rescue efforts were underway.
