Illegal hill cutting, selling plots in Ctg : Case against 4 people including two councilors

A case has been filed against four people including two councilors of Chittagong City Corporation on the charges of illegal housing projects in hills and selling plots by cutting hills and hills on Wednesday night.
Akbar Shah Police Station, Department of Environment Chittagong District Office Research Officer Md. Ashraf Uddin filed the case as plaintiff.
Nesar Uddin, Ward Councilor No. 10 of Chittagong City Corporation and Zahurul Alam Jasim, Ward No. 9 Councilor, have been accused in the case. Another accused is Mirpur Residential Welfare Co-operative Housing Society Ltd of Jungle Salimpur Union under Akbar Shah Thana of Sitakunda Upazila of Chittagong District. Its President Jahangir Alam and General Secretary Belayet Hossain. Besides, 40 to 50 people have been made unknown accused.
The plaintiff in the case is Research Officer of Department of Environment, Chittagong District Office. Ashraf Uddin said, "This case has been filed in the name of Mirpur Residential Welfare Co-operative Housing Society Limited in Salimpur Union on the allegation of selling plots after constructing illegal housing projects.
It is known that Mirpur Malik Kalyan Cooperative Housing Society Ltd. of Akbarshah police station in the city. This residential area was built illegally in the mountainous area. The Department of Environment has filed several cases and fines against Zahurul Jasim for cutting mountains and filling water bodies. Also, there are at least 40 cases against him in various police stations of Chittagong including Akbarshah, Pahartali, Khulshi.
Apart from this, there were various charges against him including youth gang, arms, drugs, extortion, arms trade. On January 26, 2023, the advisor in charge of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water of the current interim government. He was dismissed by the Ministry of Local Government on January 24 this year in the case of attacks on journalists and environmental activists including Syeda Rizwana Hasan. He was permanently dismissed by the ministry on August 12.
