Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Tuesday announced rewards of up to Tk1 lakh for any information about acts of sabotage or the individuals involved in it ahead of the 12th parliamentary elections.
"If anyone has any information that acts of sabotage are being planned to foil the election and if they provide us with detailed information, we will take stern action in this regard. We must keep the identities of the informer secret and a reward ranging from Tk20,000 to Tk1 lakh will be offered to them,” he said.
He said at a press conference after attending the meeting of Khulna divisional law enforcement at Police Superintendent's Office in Jashore.
At the meeting, the IGP talked at length with SPs of the 10 districts under Khulna division.
He urged people to go to the polling stations and cast their votes without any fear.
“You can head to the polling stations without any apprehension. The police are always with you."
He further said police are almost geared up for the upcoming national elections and are on alert for any untoward incidents.
“Law enforcers are ready to deal with any situation. Special arrangements will be made for the minorities, women, and the elderly at the polling places.”
