Husband arrested for strangling pregnant wife to death

Police arrested a man reportedly for strangling his pregnant wife to death at Madhabdi upazila in Narsingdi district on Friday night.
The arrested is Abul Kalam, 23, a resident of North Char Bhasania village under the upazila.
Earlier on Thursday, police recovered the body of Kalam's wife Arifa, 20, who was five months pregnant, from her house. Since then, Abul Kalam went into hiding.
The victim's brother Nur Mohammad filed a case with Madhabdi Police Station accusing Abul Kalam.
According to the case statement, there had been family disputes between Kalam and the victim. As sequel to it, he strangled Arifa to death.
Following the case, a team of police conducted a raid in the upazila and arrested him, said Mohammad Kamruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Madhabdi Police Station.
"The arrested was sent to a court first where he confessed to his crime and then, he was sent to a jail following the court order," added the OC.
