A husband and wife died in a head-on collision between a bus and a CNG auto-rickshaw at Katagang area on the Sylhet-Tamabil highway in Sylhet’s Jaintapur. In this incident, the driver was injured and admitted to the hospital.

On Friday at 11 am, a Sylhet-bound bus (Sylhet-B 11-0655) collided head-on with a Jaflong-bound CNG autorickshaw (Sylhet-Th-12-9580) at a place called Katagang on the Sylhet Tamabil highway.

The deceased are Badsha Mia (60) and his wife Rokeya Begum (50). They are residents of Khadimpara No. 3 Road area of Sylhet Sadar. Both of them were passengers of a CNG autorickshaw. The injured CNG autorickshaw driver Mizanur Rahman (25). He is the son of Tajul Islam of the same area.

According to the Tamabil Highway Police sources, a CNG autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction collided with a Sylhet-bound bus at a place called Katagang near the Sylhet Tamabil highway. At that time, with the help of Tamabil Highway Police and locals, the three people of CNG were taken to the Jaintapur Upazila Health Complex with serious injuries, and the doctor on duty declared Rokeya Begum dead. The seriously injured Rokeya Begum’s husband was rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

The injured CNG driver Mizanur Rahman is undergoing treatment at the hospital. Meanwhile, the passenger bus and the CNG autorickshaw involved in the accident have been taken into the custody of the Tamabil Highway Police.

Tamabil Highway Police OC Jahidul Islam told that, “We rescued three people and took them to the Jaintapur Upazila Health Complex. The doctor declared Rokeya Begum dead.” The seriously injured Rokeya Begum’s husband died at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in the afternoon while undergoing treatment. The injured CNG driver is undergoing treatment at the hospital. Bus-CNG autorickshaws are in our custody.
