Human chain held at MC College demanding elimination of inter-cadre discrimination
Sylhet Bureau
A human chain was held at Sylhet's traditional Murari Chand (MC) College demanding the elimination of inter-cadre discrimination.
The human chain was held in front of the main gate of the college on Thursday at the initiative of the Inter-cadre Discrimination Elimination Council of the Murari Chand College Unit of the BCS General Education Cadre. The speakers in the human chain demanded the formation of profession-based ministries, the abolition of all quotas for the posts of deputy secretaries, and a people-friendly civil service.
BCS General Education Cadre Association Murarichand College Unit President Professor Md. Gias Uddin presided over the event, and Murarichand College Principal Professor Abul Anam Md. Riaz delivered the keynote speech.
We have passed 53 years of independence and the position we were in, the inter-cadre relationship, has deteriorated instead of improving. Just like the administration cadre who became cadre through the BCS exam and PSC, my colleagues took the same PSC, same exam, BCS, same questions and then became cadres. Many of you who are secretaries and additional secretaries completed a 2-year degree course at that time, but many of you joined the administration cadre through PSC.
The program was moderated by Assistant Prof Sagar Biswas of the Department of Mathematics, and special guest speeches were delivered by the Secretary of the College's Teachers' Council, Prof Mohammad Tofail Ahmed, and the Head of the Department of Economics, Professor Sahab Uddin. Heads of departments, teachers and officials of various departments of the college were present at the time.
