Houses were vandalized, gold ornaments, cash and gold ornaments looted and beatings were carried out between the Mina and Fakir clans of Bamondanga village of Rupsha upazila and Burigangni village of Mollahat upazila over a trivial incident. At least 10 people were injured in the incident.

According to the victim's family and eyewitnesses, a group of miscreants of 15-20 people armed with country-made weapons gathered in a crowd and took part in the vandalism and looting of Minabari. The victim, Majnu Mina, a physically challenged person, said that on the day of Eid, on March 31 (Monday), at around 7 pm, one of our sons who was going to play in an open field at a place called Darir Matha got into a fight with a boy from a fakir house in Burigangani area. Due to that trivial incident, at around 7 pm, 15/20 miscreants led by Liakat Fakir and Liton Fakir from Burigangani area beat up and injured our sons. While we were rushing to the hospital for our sons' treatment, on Tuesday, April 1 at 8 am, 15/20 miscreants led by Liakat Fakir and Liton Fakir attacked our houses and vandalized our houses, causing damage of more than 20 lakh taka, including gold ornaments and cash. Moreover, since there was no man in the house, the miscreants sexually assaulted the women of the house and beat them up with a mat, causing bloody and lifeless injuries. The injured have been admitted to Rupsha Upazila Health Complex and Khulna Medical College Hospital. The admitted patients are, Asia Begum (75), Enamul Mina (59), Anwara Begum (45), Aslam Mina (54), Chabina Begum (35), Rahat Mina (22), Majnu Mina (52), Khalid Mina (25), Ahmad Mina (21). The seriously injured patients are undergoing treatment at Khulna Medical College Hospital. Two separate complaints have been filed in this regard at Rupsha Police Station.

Denying all those allegations, the opponents, Liakat Fakir and Liton Fakir, said that the people of the Mina house attacked us in the morning. Although we managed to escape, many of us were injured and our shops and cash were looted. We have filed a complaint with Mollahat Police Station in this incident.

The police have inspected the scene of the incident. Rupsha Police Station OC Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman said,  the police went to the incident at night and in the morning. The situation is normal now. Legal action will be taken in the related matter.
