Health sector will regain people’s trust, if MPs seek treatments at constituencies: Health minister
Staff Correspondent
Health minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen on Wednesday said that people’s confidence in the country’s health services would revive, if they see lawmakers are seeking medical treatment at their respective constituencies.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visits the National Institute of Ophthalmology and Hospital in the capital for her eye problems, the minister noted.
In contrast, the members of parliaments (MP) go to Singapore for simple medical interventions like bone surgeries, almost ensuring a loss of confidence on the country’s health sector among the general people, he added.
The minister was speaking at a workshop held on the capital’s National Parliament premises with a focus on the advancements achieved in the health sector to meet the relevant SDG targets and the goal of ensuring Universal Health Coverage.
Samanta Lal Sen further said that being impressed by the country’s improved healthcare facilities Bhutan’s king and Nepalese ambassador have asked the health minister to expand Bangladeshi health services to Bhutan, Nepal and Maldives.
He called for collaborative efforts by all to achieve the SDG targets and UHC goal, saying that united efforts can make anything possible.
