HC suspends appointment of 6,531 primary school teachers

The High Court (HC) has suspended the appointment of 6,531 candidates for the position of assistant teacher in government primary schools under the third phase of recruitment.
This order was issued as to the recruitment has been carried out based on the quota system.
The HC bench of Justice Fatema Najib and Justice Sikder Mahmudur Razi passed the order on Tuesday.
The final results of the third phase of the recruitment test of 21 districts under the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions were published on 31 October.
A notice of the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education announced that 6,531 candidates were selected for the final list.
Previously, the revised written examination results were published on 22 April, with 46,199 candidates selected for the viva voce.
The viva voce was held on 29 March from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the district-level headquarters.
The HC’s suspension order has created new uncertainty regarding the recruitment process.
