Hasan terms BNP as enemy of state, journalists

Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said BNP is the enemy of humanity, state, society and journalists so that they must be resisted.

"BNP has gone in hide while hatching anti-state conspiracy. BNP leaders are now announcing programme from hidden place," said Hasan, also Joint General Secretary of Awami League.

Hasan was addressing as chief guest at a discussion organized marking the 11th anniversary of the weekly 'Chatgar Sangbad' newspaper at the Bangabandhu Hall of Chattogram Press Club on Friday evening.

He said Baitul Mukarram National Mosque was set on fire in 2013-14 and 2015 while the Holy Quran was also burnt and many innocent people were burnt to death.

Numerous vehicles and many train-launches were also set on fire during the period while over a hundred drivers were burnt alive by BNP-Jamaat activists, he added.

The minister said the present government has made remarkable development in the country after dealing with many odds under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina.

Conspiracies against the country are still going on, he added.

Highlighting different development works of the government, he said that people never dreamt of a tunnel under the Karnaphuli river but this is reality now.

Nurul Abshar Chowdhury, publisher and editor of weekly Chatgar Sangbad newspaper, presided over the function while former ambassador SM Abul Kalam, senior vice-president of Chattogram Press Club Chowdhury Farid and its general secretary Deb Dulal Bhowmik, among others, addressed the function.
