
Habiganj held in Police-Magistracy Conference

Police-Magistrate Conference was held was held at 11 am on Saturday in Room No. 204 of the Chief Judicial Court of Habiganj.
The conference was presided over by Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Haroon-ur-Rashid. Judicial Magistrate and Focal Person Md Chifat Ullah was in charge of the programme.
Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md. Saiful Alam Chowdhury delivered the welcome address on the occasion. Judicial Magistrate Md Chifat Ullah presented the annual case filing and settlement statistics 2023 at the event. Judicial Magistrate Md. Abdul Alim presented the annual evaluation report 2023 of judicial officers and supporting employees.
Besides, Judicial Magistrate Md Chiphat Ullah presented the comparative statistics related to police station warrant Tamil in 2023. Based on the said statistics, Madhapur police station was selected as the best for 89.22 percent performance in court witness presentation process settlement, warrant tamil, report filing etc. On behalf of Madhapur Police Station, Officer-in-Charge Md. Rakibul Islam Khan received the memento from the Chief Judicial Magistrate.
In the free discussion of the program, various responsibilities of the police department and the health department were discussed in order to speedy dispose of the case in the court, presentation of witnesses, submission of investigation report and process Tamil.
Officer-in-charge of all police stations of Habiganj district, PBI representative, CID representative, DB representative, Jail Superintendent etc. participated in the discussion. Magistrates present at the event gave instructions to the officers in-charge from various police stations about the investigation and submission of reports to the court along with answers to other questions.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Jhumu Sarkar, Fakhrul Islam, Rahela Parveen, Judicial Magistrate Riaz Uddin and Sohail Bhuiya working in Habiganj district were present. Additional District Magistrate Mohammad Abul Mansur, Additional Superintendent of Police Hasibul Islam, Deputy Civil Surgeon Mohammad Mokhlesur Rahman and PP Advocate Saleh Uddin Ahmed spoke as special guests on the occasion.
The review of the presented report shows that since Chief Judicial Magistrate Mohammad Haroon Or-Rashid joined Habiganj district on 28 June 2021, the backlog of more than 8,000 cases has been reduced so far. In the event, a comparative analysis was presented regarding filing/receipt and disposal of cases in 2021, 2022 and 2023.
The total number of cases at the beginning of 2023 was 11,964, during which 1,2277 were filed and received and 13,920 were disposed of. The total number of pending cases as on January 1, 2024 is 10,321 which is the lowest in Habiganj district since the separation of judiciary.
