Govt providing all possible assistance to farmers to increase production, ensure food security : Dr Zahid

He has started distributing family cards and has also started giving farmer cards.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inauguration of the free seed and chemical fertilizer distribution program among small and marginal farmers to increase the cultivation and production of Aman paddy (Ufshi) planted in the Kharip-2, 2026-27 season at the Nawabganj Upazila Parishad Hall on Saturday afternoon, Minister for Social Welfare and Women and Children Affairs Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain MP said these.
He said, the government always wants to provide overall support to agriculture and farmers to increase production. If production increases, farmers will improve, as well as the government will develop along with ensuring food security in the country.
The minister said, there are many conspiracies being hatched against BNP. False information is being spread through Facebook and social media. There is no point in conspiring against BNP. Because BNP is the party of the people of this country. No conspiracy will survive in the face of the unity of the people. BNP will resist all conspiracies with the people.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Zahidul Islam Elias delivered the welcome speech at the event presided over by Upazila Executive Officer Bidhan Kanti Halder.
Officials from various government departments of the upazila, political figures, farmer representatives, civil society activists, and media personnel were present at the time.
It was informed at the event that under the incentive program for the 2025-2026 fiscal year, 5 kg of Aman paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MOP chemical fertilizers were distributed free of cost to 4,000 small and marginal farmers of the upazila in the Kharip-2/2026-27 season.
