Govt formulating new monitoring policy, revised curriculum to ensure visible changes in pry education: Bobby Hajjaj

Habiganj Correspondent

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj announced on Wednesday that the government has initiated plans to formulate a comprehensive monitoring policy and launch a revised curriculum to bring about qualitative and visible improvements in primary education.

The State Minister made these remarks while inspecting several government primary schools in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district.

State Minister Bobby Hajjaj stated that under the upcoming monitoring framework, administrative oversight will focus not only on student attendance but also on assessing actual learning outcomes, teaching standards, and overall institutional performance.

During the visit, the State Minister inspected classroom activities, distributed mid-day meals among second-grade students, evaluated food storage procedures, and interacted with members of the Mother’s Association.

Highlighting the School Feeding Programme, the State Minister informed that the government has already implemented the initiative across 100 upazilas, with plans to expand it nationwide to all government primary schools by next year.

Later, he visited the Jagadishpur Tea Garden Government Primary School, where he observed health check-up drives conducted for students and reviewed nutrition and child healthcare services.

Addressing curriculum reforms, State Minister Bobby Hajjaj mentioned that the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has been tasked with drafting the revised framework. The new curriculum aims to eliminate discrepancies in instruction hours across schools, make learning materials more scientifically structured and age-appropriate, and incorporate moral education, sports, and cultural activities to foster holistic student development.

WFP Bangladesh Head of Programme Jesse Wood, WFP Programme Policy Officer Emma Lefu, local Members of Parliament, officials from the Directorate of Primary Education, district and upazila administration officers, teachers, and parents were present during the visits.
