Govt extends magistracy power of armed forces

The interim government on Thursday extended the magistracy power of armed forces officers for the second time.
The powers for officers holding ranks equivalent to an army captain or above will be effective for two more months, a home ministry notification read. All the officers from Army, Navy and Air Force, holding equivalent ranks are subject to the order.
Officers serving on deputation in Bangladesh Coast Guard and Border Guard Bangladesh will also enjoy extended power, the notification added.
The interim government first introduced the powers on 17 September last year, and extended the powers for the first time two months later on 17 November.
