A two-day long workshop on GIS Based Mapping and EPI Micro planning to improve immunization services to strengthen regular immunization programs has been inaugurated in Rajshahi on Saturday. On due time as Chief Guest Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator and Divisional Commissioner Dr. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir has inaugurated the program.

In the speech of the chief guest, the administrator said. Dewan Muhammad Humayun Kabir said, Rajshahi City Corporation has success in many fields in mother and child healthcare. There has been consistent success in EPI activities at the national level. Achieving the Electronic Immunization Performance Award, recognition of the country's best in birth-death registration. This achievement has been made possible by the sincerity of everyone in Rasik's health department. Rasik's streak of success in healthcare should continue. In order to make the next generation a healthy and strong nation, all concerned should play a responsible role.

He said, in addition to the continued cooperation of the World Health Organization in the health services, RCC must acquire the ability to be self-financed in the future. They have to become more skilled and tech-savvy. Which will add a new dimension to the health care of the city dwellers? He thanked the World Health Organization for its continued support in expanding the activities of Rasik's health department.

RCC Chief Executive Officer, Rajshahi Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Md. Anwarul Kabir, World Health Organization Divisional Coordinator Dr. Md. Kamruzzaman, National GIS Consultant Hamidur Rashid, World Health Organization SIMO Dr. Farhana, IT Specialist Abu Md. Istiaq Ali were special guests in the workshop organized under the chairmanship of ABM Sharif Uddin.

It was informed in the meeting that through GIS microplanning digital maps of wards and blocks, ward and block wise vaccination coverage and data on missing children will be available, vaccination centers will be identified. It will be known whether any area is excluded or not. Determining the distance of vaccination center from EPI store, vaccination center information can be obtained from any location through online. Activities of health workers, supervisors can be monitored.
