A four-day-long international trade show focused on garment accessories & packaging, aiding the technology sourcing needs for the readymade garments (RMG) sector, will be held between January 11 and 14 at the International Convention City, Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital.

As the chief guest, Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) Vice Chairman AHM Ahsan will inaugurate the exhibition, while Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) president Mahbubul Alam, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) president Faruque Hassan, Executive President of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) Mohammad Hatem, Commerce Additional Secretary (Export) Md Abdur Rahim Khan are expected to present there as special guests.

The 21st edition of Garment Technology Bangladesh (GTB) 2024 and the 13th edition of GAPEXPO 2024—International Garment Accessories & Packaging Expo jointly organised with Bangladesh Garments Accessories & Packaging Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGAPMEA), Commerce Deputy Secretary and also BGAPMEA administrator Moshiur Rahman said at a press conference on Wednesday.

BGAPMEA Secretary Ruhidas Jodder and Additional Secretary Rafiqul Islam were present at the press conference, along with the Managing Director of Ask Trade and Exhibitions Private Limited Tipu Sultan Bhuiyan and Director Saleem Basha.

The expo, spread over eight halls, has the participation of 250 exhibitors from over 20 countries, thus making it one of the largest trade shows of its kind in Southeast Asia. It is an excellent opportunity to witness the latest technology in action, update, and upgrade by talking to various experts present at various booths with global exposure and experience, Moshiur added.

Managing Director of ASK Trade and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, Tipu Sultan Bhuiyan, said, “Bangladesh has gained its reputation as a leading supplier of RMG to the world. In its quest to consolidate its position and modernize to cater to the needs of the global market, GTB 2024 is a technology platform for our RMG sector."

BGAPMEA represents about 1800 garment, accessory, & packaging firms in the country. It acts as a backward linkage industry for the RMG sector, which employs over 500,000 people.
