Four Bangladeshis detained in Lakshidari border while returning illegally from India

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested four Bangladeshis on Tuesday evening at the Lakshidari border in Satkhira while returning illegally from India.

The arrested are Mohan Kumar Sarkar (39), his wife Anamika Sarkar (35), Sushmita Sarkar (27), wife of Prakash Das and their four-year-old child Abir Das, son of deceased Nirmal Kumar Sarkar of Itagacha Ghoshpara, Satkhira city.

Naik Subedar of Bhomra Company of Satkhira BGB 33 Battalion Md. Zahirul Islam said that a patrol team of Bhomra camp on Tuesday (March 26) evening while patrolling Lakshidari border arrested four people including a child and two women while returning home from India illegally.

On questioning, they said that they had gone to a relative's house in Ghojadanga, West Bengal, India, three days ago on the occasion of Dol festival. They belong to the same family.

Mohidul Islam, the officer in charge of Satkhira Sadar police station, said that a case has been filed under Section 11 (C) of the Passport Act, mentioning the names of the four people arrested by the BGB in this incident. Those arrested were sent to court on Wednesday (March 27) morning.
