Former State Minister for Water Resources Mahbubur Rahman dies

Patuakhali-4 (Kalapara-Rangabali) Constituency elected repeatedly former MP Md. Mahbubur Rahman died on Sunday around 2 pm due to illness while undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of Dhaka Specialized Hospital (Innalillahi----Rajeun). He was approximately 76 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and grandchildren. His death cast a shadow of mourning in the Kalapara-Rangabali area.

According to his family sources, he will be buried in the family graveyard after his first janaja namaz at Kalapara Central Jame Masjid at 9 am on Monday and the second janaja namaz at his home village Baliatli after Johar.

He was elected MP from this seat in 2001, 2008 and 2014. After being elected as an MP in 2008, he took charge of the State Minister for Water Resources in the Awami League government. He was the president of Kalapara Upazila Awami League. Since the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, several cases have been filed in his name under the non-bailable section of the Penal Code, including murder, explosives act by the BNP and its affiliates. He was very upset. Even on the day of his death, a leader of the Upazila Jubodal filed a case against him on the charge of attempted murder.
