Former MP Abdul Jabbar's 30th death anniversary observed in Kulaura

The real leaders of the party were those who sacrificed themselves for the party's hardships. An honest, fearless, worker-friendly and selfless worker like Abdul Jabbar is rare these days. Abdul Jabbar did politics above greed. He was a leader of the masses. Therefore, Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina posthumously conferred the Ekushey Padak on late Abdul Jabbar, former MP of Kulaura, who was dear to Bangabandhu. Abdul at the Zilla Parishad Auditorium located in the Kulaura Upazila premises on Wednesday, August 31.

Various speakers said these things at the memorial meeting and prayer meeting organized by the Jabbar Sriti Sangsad on the occasion of the 30th death anniversary of late Abdul Jabbar.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md. Mahmudur Rahman Khondগkar was the chief guest at the event under the chairmanship of Md. Abu Zafar Raju, the son of the late President of Jabbar Sriti Sangsad, Protocol Officer-2 Md. Abu Zafar Raju and Municipal Councilor Ataur Rahman Chowdhury Suhel.

Upazila Awami League General Secretary and former Upazila Parishad Chairman ASM Kamrul Islam gave the welcome speech. Upazila Vice Chairman Mawlana Fazlul Haque Khan Sahed, Upazila Women Vice Chairman Fateha Ferdous Chowdhury Popi, Kulaura Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Sadek Kawsar Dastogir, Kulaura Police Station OC Md Abdus Salek, Moulvibazar District CPB President Comrade Khandkar Lutfur Rahman, Kulaura spoke as special guests.

Official College Retired Principal Soumya Pradeep Bhattacharya Sajal, Kulaura Press Club President Md. Shakil Rashid Chowdhury, Upazila Awami League Vice President Shafiul Alam Shafi, Assistant Professor CM Joynal Abedin, Upazila Awami League Joint General Secretary Principal Abdul Kadir, Organizing Secretary UP Chairman Lecturer Momdud Hossain, Badrul Islam Badr and Jamal Hossain, head teacher Dr. Abdul Qayyum, BRDB Chairman Fazlul Haque Fazlu, former Jasad President Councilor Rafiqul Islam Tipu, Awami League leaders Syed Kala Miah, Maqdach Ali and Abdul Manaf, Kulaura Business Welfare Association Secretary Atiqur Rahman Akoi, Upazila Jubo League Secretary Lecturer Mainul Islam Sabuj, Upazila Secchasebok League President Enamul Haque Mifta, Municipal Chhatra League President Habibur Rahman Johny, College Chhatra League leaders Anwar Hossain Bakhsh and Mahfuzur Rahman etc.

At the end of the meeting Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Fazilatun Necha Mujib along with those killed on August 15, 1992.

Imam Mawlana Ahsan Uddin of Upazila Jame Masjid conducted a prayer meeting in memory of late Abdul Jabbar who died on August 28.

It should be noted that the beloved of the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, former (acting) president of the Central Farmers League, former member of parliament and chairman of the upazila parishad of Kulaura, lifetime general secretary of the upazila Awami League and organizer of the liberation war, late Abdul Jabbar died on 28th of 1992.

He died of a heart attack at the age of only 47 (1945-1992) in the month of August mourning.
