Former minister Shajahan Khan arrested

Awami League Presidium Member and former minister Shajahan Khan was arrested from the capital's Dhanmondi area early on Friday.
Sources from the Detective Branch (DB) police confirmed the matter this morning.
Shajahan Khan has been elected as a Member of Parliament for eight consecutive terms from the Madaripur-2 constituency. He is also the Executive President of the Bangladesh Labour Federation. He was first elected as a Member of Parliament in 1986 as an independent candidate from the Madaripur-2 constituency.
He was re-elected as an MP from the same constituency in 1991, 1996, 2001, 2008, 2014, 2018, and most recently in 2024, representing the Bangladesh Awami League.
In 2009, the Awami League government appointed Shajahan Khan as the Minister of Shipping.
