FIVDB, Plan International Bangladesh organise project learning workshop with CP partners, govt stakeholders in Cox’s Bazar

Friends in Village Development Bangladesh (FIVDB), with technical support from Plan International Bangladesh and, funded by Radiohjalpen, successfully organized the Project Learning Sharing Workshop under the “Prevention and Response of Child Protection Concerns through Timely Initiative with Child Engagement” (PRACTICE) project.

The workshop was held at Hotel Sea Gull and brought together key stakeholders to exchange valuable insights and strengthen child protection efforts in Cox’s Bazar.

The Additional Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), Md. Shamsud Douza, Joint Secretary graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Distinguished participants included Hasan Masud, Deputy Director of Social Welfare, Cox’s Bazar; Korshed Alam Chowdhury, Assistant Secretary of the Bangladesh Government and Camp-in-Charge (CIC) of Camp 24; representatives of media organizations; child protection focal persons; sub-sector colleagues; and NGO platform representatives were present.

During the workshop, FIVDB presented key learnings and outcomes from the PRACTICE project, emphasizing the importance of engaging adolescents and youth in programs to foster leadership for future changes. It highlighted how the provision of alternative livelihoods as part of an integrated approach was effective in mitigating child protection issues and how distributing culturally appropriate dignity kits promoted safe menstrual hygiene practices among adolescent girls. These innovative approaches provided actionable insights for addressing child protection concerns in the Rohingya refugee camps.

The Chief Guest Douza, praised FIVDB and Plan International Bangladesh for their impactful contributions, stating, “The learnings shared today are instrumental in enhancing child protection measures in the Rohingya camps. I deeply appreciate FIVDB and Plan International Bangladesh for their dedication to this vital cause.”

The event concluded with a collective commitment from stakeholders to leverage the insights shared during the workshop to strengthen child protection systems in Cox’s Bazar and beyond.
