Finals of Hult Prize on campus round held at NSTU

The finals of the Hult Prize on Campus Round were held at Noakhali Science and Technology University (NSTU), where the finals of the on-campus round of the 'Hult Prize' 2024 were organized for the fifth time.

The competition was organized online on Tuesday. The theme of this year's Hult Prize was unlimited. Among the five teams that participated in the final, the champion was team 'Cleopatra', and the runner-up was team 'Change Catalyst'.

Tarif Mohammad Khan, Ismat Jahan Lisa, and Rashiq Hasan served as judges in the final. Hult Prize Country Coordinator, Md. Amdadul Haque Rafi, was also present on the occasion.

23 teams participated in the preliminary round of the Hult Prize competition. The 13 teams selected in the preliminary round participate in the semi-finals, and the final five teams are selected for the finals. The Champion team's business model was to use eco-friendly biofuel which is bioethanol, instead of firewood. The fuel will be safe, sustainable, and cost-effective compared to other fuels.

The members of the champion team are Afrin Hossain Mithila, Muhammad Saiful Islam, and Abu Saeed. All of them are 17th batch students in the MIS department. The champion team, 'Cleopatra', will represent NSTU in the regional round in Mumbai, India.

“There was a lot to learn throughout the Hult Prize. We have already started planning for the regional round. We will be discussing the business model with some professors at the university, and hopefully we can start initial testing before April. If everything goes well, I hope we can win the regional round as well," said the champion team about the plans ahead.

The NSTU Journalists Association and RTV were media partners of the Halt Prize at NSTU. Also as a strategic partner was the Young Professionals Association of Bangladesh (YPAB).

Note that 'hult prize' is one of the ways to start a start-up business. The Hult Prize is renowned around the world for making youth economically and socially enterprising. It is known as the 'Nobel Prize for Students'. The 'Hult Prize' is the world's largest business idea competition for university students. This competition was held simultaneously on about 1500 campuses in 121 countries around the world, including Bangladesh.

The competition, held annually since 2010 by the United Nations and the Bill Clinton Foundation, seeks to address various social, economic, and environmental issues through the formulation of a sustainable business plan. Various top universities in the world, such as Harvard, Cambridge, and South California, participate in the competition. Through which, 1 million dollars (about 8 crores in Bangladeshi taka) is awarded for business plans to solve problems identified by the United Nations and to implement them.
