Ferry on Chilmari-Roumari river route closed for 3 months causing sufferings to people

Fayshal Haque, Chilmari (Kurigram)

The ferry has been closed on Chilmari-Roumari river route for about three months due to navigability crisis.

Sources said, a circle of BIDBTA in the name of river excavation in the navigability crisis has fallen into a jerk in the sand of the Brahmaputra River . As the crisis of the Nabdi was stopped by the fiery movement, the cycle was being converted to the boats.

The ferry is closed for months after the ferry, the authorities do not have the ferry. Falls are being cut off by the people of the people.

BIWTC has been reported to be paying Tk 12 lakh every month as Edi's ferry is not moving. As well as the ferry is closed, the ferry inch is facing losses.

It is reported that the distance from Ramna Ghat to Chilmari is about 22 km. The people of the region have to struggle to cross this 22 km river. Ferry movement began on September 27, 2021, with the end of long suffering. People have been suffering from ferry movement.

The ferry has been destroyed due to the ferry closed for a long time, the sand -filled tractors, dumper tractors of the Brahmaputra Nidar. It is reported that the people returning home to the upcoming Eid -ul -Fitr will be lost and the extra money will be lost due to the ferry closure.

Concerned that the northern vehicles travel through the Jamuna Bridge to Dhaka by crossing the 5 km. If the Ferrity is transferred from Ramna Ghat to Fakirhat Ghat, the buses, trucks, small cars of the region will be able to travel to Dhaka in a short time. This will greatly reduce the time and fuel cost of vehicles. In addition, if the Night Navigation (lamp) system is in operation, it will be possible to operate the ferry at night, the source said.

Lokman Hosen, a truck driver who came to the base of Chilmari from Dinajpur, said that if the ferry was transported by giving the ferry (Fakirhat Ghat), the route would be small and the road to the northern region, the smallest of the road. If the problem of this route is solved, this Ferry will serve as the main entrance to the northern region.

Chilmari manager (trade) of Bangladesh Inland Shipping Corporation (BIWTC) Prafulla Chauhan said the ferry movement was stopped on the 21st December. Two ferries called Kadam and Kunjalta are fully prepared for the movement. The service will be introduced immediately by the BIWTA to solve the required problem of the ferry.

BIWTA Deputy Director Sheikh Rabiul Islam denied the disagreement, saying that the ferry is not possible until the water level is raised. However, due to the sailing of the sand by giving the ferry, the loss of the ghats will be increased.
