Father stabbed to death by son in Netrakona, son arrested

A man named Alai Mia (65) was killed after his son hit him with a baton during a family dispute in Madan, Netrakona. Police have arrested his son Yasin (20) in connection with the incident.
The incident took place at around 5:30 am on Wednesday in the kitchen of his house in Ashkipara area of ward number 6 of Madan Municipality. The deceased, Alai Mia, was a daily wage laborer by profession. According to police and local sources, there was an argument between the father and son over a family matter in the morning.
At one stage, Yasin hit his father on the back of the neck with a baton, seriously injuring him. Alai Mia was taken to the Madan Upazila Health Complex for urgent treatment with the help of the locals, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
The accused, Yasin, had been mentally depressed for a long time. Madan Police Station OC Salahuddin Karim confirmed the matter and said that the body of the deceased has been recovered and sent to the Netrakona 250-bed District Hospital morgue for autopsy. Yasin (20), involved in the incident, has been arrested and kept in police custody. Legal action is under process in this regard.
