Farmer's dream burnt to ashes in Madaripur, 7 cows, one goat died, loss of about Tk 4 million

Seven cows and one goat have died in a massive fire in the Kandi area of Shibray in Shibchar Upazila of Madaripur. The affected family said that the incident caused a loss of around 3.5 to 4 million taka.
A fire broke out suddenly in the cowshed of Mahbub Molla's house in Kandi village of Shibray on Tuesday at around 9:30 pm. Locals said that smoke was first seen coming out of the cowshed. Within moments, the flames spread throughout the cowshed. Before the cattle tied up inside the cowshed could be taken out, the fire took a terrible shape.
Family members and neighbors quickly tried to put out the fire with water and sand. However, the intensity of the fire was so high that it was not possible to rescue the seven cows and one goat inside alive.
The fire was later brought under control with the combined efforts of locals.
Victim Mahbub Molla said that the cows and goats in the cowshed were the only source of income for his family. He has become completely destitute after everything was suddenly burnt down in the fire. He claims that the cows were of a high breed and milky, so the market value of each was high. The total loss is around 35 to 40 lakh taka.
According to local sources, the fire destroyed the structure of the cowshed, hay, animal feed, and various agricultural equipment, further increasing the financial loss.
It is initially believed that the fire may have started due to an electrical short circuit or negligence. However, the local administration has launched an investigation to confirm the actual cause.
Meanwhile, locals have called for support for the affected families. The local administration has assured to assess the extent of the damage and provide necessary assistance.
