Truck workers and general students formed a human chain against Pirojpur Acting Forest Officer Md. Mohsin Howlader and Class IV employees Zahir, Roni and Abu Saleh, accusing them of extortion and torture from truck workers in Pirojpur.
The human chain program was held on Town Club Road in Pirojpur city on Tuesday afternoon.
Pirojpur Truck Workers Union Vice President Md. Zakir Hossain, timber trader Rabiul Sikder, truck driver Md. Sujan Sheikh and local students spoke at the event.
At the time, they complained that while sending trucks loaded with timber from different areas of Pirojpur to Dhaka, Pirojpur Acting Forest Officer Md. Mohsin Howlader and employees Zahir, Roni and Abu Saleh collected extortion from these trucks and sometimes beat them up. That is why they formed this human chain.
At this time, the speakers demanded that the accused be tried within the next 72 hours. Otherwise, they warned of stricter programs.
In this regard, Pirojpur's acting forest officer Md. Mohasin Hawlader said, I am new here. For the last 20 days, some people whom I do not know wanted to use me and my employees to do some immoral things, which we denied, so they formed a human chain against us on such allegations. He denied the matter of extortion and beating.
