Demand for Biman flights on Sylhet-Manchester route growing stronger

The demand for Biman flights on the Sylhet-Manchester route is growing stronger. The expatriates of Sylhet have warned of announcing strict programs to achieve this demand. In addition, various organizations have united and announced a strict movement to achieve this demand.
At a press conference at the Sylhet Press Club on Tuesday, the leaders of the Bangladesh Welfare Council UK have demanded that Biman flights on the Sylhet-Manchester route be continued.
The organization's president MA Mukit and general secretary Ashraf Gazi said at the press conference that despite the long-standing demands of the expatriates, no initiative is being taken to upgrade Sylhet's Osmani Airport to full international standards.
Now, an unscrupulous group of Biman has started trying to stop flights on the Sylhet-Manchester route. They protested these activities. They also requested the government to reduce the fare of the London-Sylhet-London flight. The leaders of the Bangladesh Welfare Council UK called on all expatriates to actively participate in utilizing the freedom gained through the anti-discrimination movement. They demanded that at least two expatriate representatives be included in the interim government.
In a written statement at the press conference, the leaders also said that the United Nations has fully supported all the initiatives of the government led by Dr. Yunus on the path to the transition of a new Bangladesh. They also mentioned that they want to be by their side in all the works of this government. They mentioned that the expatriates had stopped sending remittances in a way, expressing distrust in the autocratic government.
World Cancer Day observed in North East Cancer Hospital Sylhet
Various day-long programms were held at North East Cancer Hospital on the occasion of World Cancer Day.
On this occasion, after the rally organized at 10:30 am on Tuesday, an awareness rally was organized at the North East Medical College Hospital Sylhet premises at 11 am.
Later, a discussion meeting was held at the Boys Hostel ground with cancer survivors. In the discussion meeting chaired by Professor Dr. Shahriar Hossain Chowdhury, Principal of North East Medical College and Managing Director of North East Private Limited, Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, in his speech as the chief guest, said that thousands of people are getting cancer every year due to our daily eating habits. For this, we must be aware of our eating habits. He said that various harmful chemicals used for food preservation and beauty enhancement are very harmful to the human body. Due to the consumption of these foods, people are suffering from various diseases.
He said these while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar organized by North East Cancer Hospital on the occasion of World Cancer Day on Tuesday (February 4). Professor Dr. A. M. Sarwar Uddin Chowdhury said, we have to bring every day of life within a rule. We have to be extremely careful in the scope of food intake and lifestyle.
Speaking as a special guest at the event, Colonel Saida Nazrina of ADMS, Headquarters, 17th Infantry Division, Sylhet Cantonment said, I did not know that there is such a high-quality cancer treatment opportunity in the greater Sylhet region.
Other special guests who spoke at the event were Professor Dr. Shahidur Rahman, Vice-Chancellor (Proposal) of North East University Bangladesh, Professor Dr. Mohammad Afzal Mia, Chairman of the North East Medical College Governing Body, and Professor Dr. Md. Nazmul Islam, Dean of Sylhet Medical University. In addition, the heads of various departments of North East Medical College Hospital and the respected directors of North East Private Limited were present at the event.
