DU Pro-VC Education returns home after Japan visit

Dhaka University Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed returned home on Tuesday after a 7-day visit to Japan. He made this visit at the invitation of Kobe University, Japan.

During the visit, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Edn) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed participated as an invited guest in two symposiums related to Joint Virtual Campus (JV Campus) and Global Network Program (GNP).

The symposium related to Joint Virtual Campus (JV) was organized by Kobe University, Japan. Its co-organizer was the Ministry of Education of Japan. Through this project, global talent is nurtured, curriculum development is improved, and mutual education and research experiences are exchanged between universities of ASEAN countries.

The symposium also discussed the opportunity to take classes virtually for Dhaka University students under this project. Views were also exchanged on signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kobe University in this regard soon.

It is to be noted that renowned universities from various countries including the United States, China, Indonesia, Cambodia and Thailand have already pledged to work jointly under this project.

In addition, a separate symposium titled Global Network Program was held under the initiative of the Ministry of Education of Japan.

During the visit, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof Dr. Mamun Ahmed paid a courtesy call on Executive Vice President Tamaki Hisashi of Kobe University. During the meeting, they discussed the feasibility of launching a joint PhD program between Dhaka University and Kobe University and launching collaborative education and research activities.
