DSCC councilor Chameli beats her fellow Ratan at meeting

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) reserved seat councilor Roksana Islam Chameli beat 20 No. ward councilor Farid Uddin Ahmed Ratan with her shoes.
The incident happened during the 25th board meeting of the DSCC, attended by councilors with DSCC Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh in the chair.
Wishing anonymity, a DSCC councilor said around 12:00 pm, councilor Chameli beat Ratan with her shoes all of a sudden when DSCC mayor Sheikh Fazle Taposh was speaking on an agenda at Mayor Mohammad Hanif Auditorium at the Nagar Bhaban.
She said, “Chameli stood up from her seat in the back row and beat Ratan, who was advancing in the middle row. The incident left all of the halls stunned. Then, the mayor ordered Chanmeli to get out of the hall.”
Sources said councilor Ratan and Chameli had previous enmity over leaking a video of Chameli, which shows she was in a private moment with a young man.
They also said the leak of the video may lead to the incident.
Speaking to the media, Councilor Farid Uddin Ratan said he had no previous enmity with Chameli.
He said, “Out of the blue, she did so in the corporation meeting. Following the incident, the DSCC mayor immediately expelled her from the meeting.”
Chameli, however, could not be reached for comments, and no official statement was issued from the DSCC regarding any action against the incident.
