Driver murdered after hijacking tomtom in Bahubal, two arrested

In Bahubal upazila of Habiganj, miscreants strangled and beat to death a tomtom (electric rickshaw) driver Abul Kashem (28) and hijacked his vehicle on Tuesday morning
Bahubal Model Police has arrested two suspects in connection with the incident.
Kashem’s body was recovered from beside the Manabkalyan High School in the upazila.
The deceased driver was the son of Abdul Ali from Lamatashi village.
According to police sources, Kashem left home with his tomtom around 11 AM on Monday and never returned. After a night-long search, local residents found his body near the school on Tuesday morning and informed the police.
Police arrived at the scene, recovered the body, prepared an inquest report, and sent it to the district hospital morgue for autopsy.
Bahubal Model Police Station OC Mohammad Zahidul Islam pledged not to leave the scene without arresting those responsible. Acting swiftly, the police arrested two suspects involved in tomtom and CNG thefts.
The arrestees are Md. Al Amin alias “Pichchi Al Amin” (22), son of Hanif Ullah, and another Al Amin (20), son of Shafik Miah — both from Nandanpur area of the same upazila.
OC Mohammad Zahidul Islam has been widely praised across the upazila and social media, specially Facebook, for his prompt action.
Confirming the arrests, OC Zahidul Islam said that during preliminary interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement in the murder. They admitted that the driver was killed during a tomtom hijacking attempt.
