
Dr Md Harunur Rashid made Director of SAARC Agriculture Centre

Md. Harunur Rashid, PhD joined as the Director of the SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC), a regional organisation of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) on the 17th December 2023.
The SAC is the knowledge and information hub in South Asia which is one of the most vibrant regional Centre working under the umbrella of SAARC.
The SAC has been working on human resource development, policy guidelines, project implementation, germplasms distribution, providing scholarship for PhD in agriculture, publishing documents of regional interest, technology transfer, SAARC food bank and capacity building essentially related to agriculture and allied sectors.
Dr. Rashid started his carrier as an Assistant Specialist (Agriculture) at National Academy for Primary Education in 1995. Then he worked as a Scientific Officer and Senior Scientific Officer at BRRI; Principal Scientific Officer and Chief Scientific Officer at Crops Division, Director of Manpower and Training Unit of BARC.
Later on, he worked as a Director at Project Implementation Unit-BARC, National Agricultural Technology Program Phase II Project (NATP-2). He also worked at International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) on lien during 2011 to 2014.
He accomplished his BSc Ag (Hons.) and MSc in Agronomy from Bangladesh Agricultural University, Mymemsingh, Bangladesh. He did his PhD as a prestigious IRRI scholar from Bangladesh Agricultural University in association with IRRI. He published more than hundred research articles, policy document and popular articles.
