Divorced woman with speech impairment gives birth to daughter, mystery over paternity in Patharghata

A divorced woman with speech impairment and mental illness has given birth to a baby girl in Dakshin Kalibari village of Kalmegha union in Patharghata upazila of Barguna. The child's father's identity is unknown, creating a stir in the area.
The family said that Arju (23), the second daughter of Md. Yunus (father: Momin Uddin), gave birth to a baby girl at her home on Tuesday (July 1) at around 11:30 am. She has been mentally unstable and speech impaired for about eight years. She had been living in her father's house since her divorce from her husband two and a half years ago.
Arju's father said that the girl could not speak and would not go anywhere alone. The family also did not realize that she was pregnant. The matter came to light after the child was born. As a result, it is not possible to know the identity of the child's father.
Upon receiving news of the incident, local public representatives, political leaders, and dignitaries visited the scene. They demanded a fair investigation and the real culprits be brought to justice quickly.
OC of Patharghata Police Station said that no written complaint has been received so far. If a complaint is received, an investigation will be conducted and necessary legal action will be taken.
