Hundreds of mosques, madrassa teachers and students of 13 unions including Shahzadpur municipal area held a protest march, human chain and assembly on Friday at Batter intersection of Dwariapur market in Shahjadpur upazila of Sirajganj to demand the closure of liquor shops.

After Jumma prayers, Muslims of different mosques and teachers and students of madrasas gathered in Buttermor area of Dwariapur Bazar of Shahjadpur Upazila with a protest procession.After that they formed a human chain demanding the closure of liquor shops here.During the half-hour-long human chain, they staged a protest demanding the immediate closure of liquor shops.After that a huge rally was held at that place on the same demand.

The director and teacher of Nukali Cadet Madrasa Maulana Rashedul Hasan, the head teacher of Garabil Madrasa Maulana Fuad Hasan, Imam Hafez Maulana Noor Alam of Dwariapur Baitul Maqddes Jame Masjid, Imam Hafez Maulana Abul Hasan of Dwariapur Aomiya Jame Masjid, Imam Hafez Maulana Mustafa of Shahzadpur Government College spoke.Sarkar, Maulana Masud Rana and Farooq Sarkar, director of Shahjadpur Pallividyut.Speakers said that for a long time an influential gang has been selling liquor openly in a shop in Shahjadpur Municipal Market. As a result, the horror of alcohol has spread in the alleys of Shahjadpur.Students of schools, colleges, madrasas and youths of all levels are ruining their lives prematurely by getting addicted to this liquor.Many talented children have become addicted to this drug and the family has been destroyed.

To get rid of Shahjadpur residents from this, Chayan Islam, Member of National Parliament of Sirajganj-6 (Shahjadpur) Constituency announced in his election manifesto that if he is elected, he will first arrange closure of liquor shops in Shahjadpur.

After he was elected according to his words, after sending a DO letter to the appropriate authorities demanding the closure of liquor shops in Shahjadpur, the concerned authorities have not stopped them for unknown reasons. As a result, the youth society of Shahjadpur has reached the verge of collapse.They gave a speech demanding the closure of liquor shops in Shahjadpur on an urgent basis to protect the young society of Shahjadpur from this.

In this regard, Shahjadpur police station OC Sabuj Rana said that the higher authorities have been informed to take legal action against him.Besides, we are also taking all necessary steps from our side.
