Decision to return Ziaur Rahman's Independence Award

The decision to revoke the Independence Award of late President Ziaur Rahman, which was canceled in 2003, has been annulled.

At the same time, the names of the selected recipients of the Independence Award 2025 have been announced.

This information was disclosed in a press release issued by the Cabinet Division on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the government has decided to honor seven distinguished individuals with the "Independence Award 2025" in recognition of their outstanding and significant contributions at the national level.

The individuals selected for this year's Independence Award are:

Professor Jamal Nazrul Islam (posthumously) in Science and Technology

Mir Abdus Shukur Al Mahmud (posthumously) in Literature

Novera Ahmed (posthumously) in Culture

Sir Fazle Hasan Abed (posthumously) in Social Service

Mohammad Mahbubul Haque Khan, also known as Azam Khan (posthumously) in Liberation War and Culture

Badruddin Mohammad Umar in Education and Research

Abrar Fahad (posthumously) for Protest and Youth Activism
