Due to the many dead trees standing on the Budhata to Ujirpur road in Asashuni Upazila, pedestrians are forced to walk at the risk of their lives.

The road is filled with numerous large and small saplings on both sides. Most of these trees have been dead for several years. Long, dead branches occasionally break off on the road. The road has been closed many times due to these trees and branches falling on the road. Vehicles and pedestrians have been involved in accidents several times.

This has been reported many times in newspapers. The trees under the jurisdiction of the Zilla Parishad have now become a death trap for the people of Eraka. Although it is very important to remove the trees, no work is being done for years due to the negligence of the authorities. People on the road, families living along the road, shops are being used at the risk of death. Recently, a large branch of the tree broke off on the road near the Jame Mosque in Budhata Dakshin Para on the road.

No vehicles or animals were crushed under the branches. At that time, a few vehicles and pedestrians were at a safe distance. The branches fell and the road was blocked. The locals cleared the road by cutting the branches as they pleased.

Locals Al Amin Hossain and Abul Kalam said that numerous saplings along the road have grown across the road. The trees have now become dangerous as they have died.

The trees need to be removed quickly. We have appealed to the district council many times, but we do not know why the trees are not being cut. The people of the area strongly demanded that the higher authorities cut the trees quickly and save people from the risk of life.
