Daytime robbery in Baralekha: Two arrested, looted goods including Tk 1 lakh recovered

Barelekha police arrested two people involved in a robbery incident that took place in Shimulia area of Barelekha upazila of Moulvibazar district from Shahparan police station area of Sylhet metropolis.
The looted mobile phones, cash worth Tk 99,500, knives used in the robbery, motorcycle, helmet and clothes worn during the crime were recovered from the arrested people.
Moulvibazar Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Ops) Noble Chakma gave this information at a press conference at the Superintendent of Police office on Saturday afternoon.
He further said that the plaintiff in the case, Abdul Ahad, withdrew Tk 2 lakh from Pubali Bank Baralekha branch at approximately 12:30 pm on July 30. He was returning home on a motorcycle with a total of Tk 2 lakh 16 thousand, including Tk 16 thousand in cash kept in his daughter Suhada Akhter's vanity bag.
On the way, when he reached a place called Shimulia, four bandits on two motorcycles blocked his way. They threatened the plaintiff and his daughter Suhada Akhter by holding sharp knives around their necks and snatched the vanity bag belonging to the plaintiff's daughter. In it were Tk 2 lakh 16 thousand, a Samsung smart mobile phone, two heavy silver chains, and the plaintiff's national identity card smart card.
In this incident, a regular case of robbery was filed at Baralekha Police Station on July 30, based on the victim's complaint.
Kulaura Circle Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Ajmal Hossain, Boralekha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md. Mahbubur Rahman Molla, SI Ratan Kumar Halder and others were present at the press conference.
Those involved in the incident were identified through the help of information technology and intelligence surveillance. Later, on August 1, a massive operation was conducted in various police stations in Sylhet district and the metropolis.
During the operation, two accused involved in the incident were arrested from the Kazirbazar area of Shahparan Police Station.
The arrested are: Selim Ahmed alias Anik 5 Bhatla Selim, Sang- Kulaura village, Thana- Kulaura, District- Moulvibazar. Shakib Ahmed, father: deceased Manik Mia, Sang- Mir Mahalla, Thana- Shahparan, SMP, District-Sylhet.
