Daulatdia-Paturia river route ready to make Eid journey smooth

On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, the local administration and the ghat authorities have completed all preparations to ensure smooth passage of passengers and vehicles through the important Daulatdia-Paturia waterway in the southwestern region.

Meanwhile, Rajbari District and Goalando Upazila Administration has taken necessary decisions by holding a coordination meeting with all relevant authorities.

Last Wednesday, April 3 at 4 pm Rajbari Superintendent of Police GM Abul Kalam Azad Daulatdia held a meeting with all concerned authorities at the truck terminal. He directed everyone to give utmost importance to smooth crossing without any harassment of common passengers. He also asked to take care that no one behaves unkindly towards ghat dependent small traders, rickshaw drivers, auto drivers etc.

According to the related sources, additional law and order forces have already started working at the ghat for the security of homebound passengers.

However, to prevent gambling and robbery on the ferry, the concerned demanded that the police be present on every trip of the ferry. The launch has also been demanded to prevent carrying passengers beyond its capacity and to have adequate life-saving equipment.

According to BIWTC sources, the ghat department has prepared 15 ferries, 20 launches and 10 speedboats for the safe passage of people at home on Eid.

Besides, in order to reduce the suffering of passengers, normal truck crossing will be closed for seven days before and after Eid, except trucks carrying animals and urgent perishable goods, and speedboat movement will be stopped at night. Meanwhile, the authorities concerned with the ghat have completed all preparations including preparing the ghat to ensure the Eid journey.

SI Farid Uddin, who is in charge of the OC of Daulatdia Naval Police Outpost, said that extra security arrangements have been made for homebound passengers on Eid. There will also be naval police patrols in the river. No more than the prescribed fare will be allowed on launches and ferries. Legal action will be taken if extra passengers are taken on the launch. Each launch is required to carry adequate life-saving equipment. The crackdown on gambling and extortion in ferries continues.

BIWTC Daulatdia Ghat Branch Manager (Commercial) Mohammad Salah Uddin said that the number of ferries on the Daulatdia-Paturia sea route has been increased to 15 to handle the pressure of passengers and vehicles on the occasion of Eid. 3 ghats have been prepared. I hope there will be no problem in the smooth crossing.

Deputy Commissioner Abu Qaiser Khan said, I have held a preparatory meeting with all concerned to make the Eid trip smooth. According to the decision of the meeting, all cargo trucks and covered vans will be closed except for emergency services for three days before and after Eid. Apart from this, sand carrying bulkhead movement in the river will be stopped from April 6 to April 16. Hope this time with everyone's cooperation we can give a festive Eid gift.

This time the Executive Magistrate will be on duty for 24 hours in three shifts along with law enforcement forces to prevent passenger harassment and law and order. We request everyone's cooperation.
