After receiving the news of beautician Rikta's murder, the Thana police reached the spot and gave a statement to the crime police. Meanwhile, he demanded punishment from the police for those involved in this murder.

The police have solved the mystery of the murder of Momtaz Begum Rikta, a popular beautician and expatriate's wife in Faridganj, Chandpur. Within 36 hours of the murder, the Thana police were able to unravel the mystery of the murder with the help of information technology and the confessions of the arrested.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Hajiganj and Faridganj Circle) Pankaj Kumar Dey spoke about this murder in a press briefing at Faridganj police station on Friday (January 19) afternoon. Faridganj Police Station OC Saidul Islam, OC (Investigation) Pradeep Mondal and investigating officer of the case Suman Mia were present.

It is said in the press briefing that on the night of the incident on Wednesday (January 17) Harunur Rashid's (Rakibul Hasan) wife and beautician Momtaz Begum Rikta, her nephew A: Malek's son, Mehdi Hasan, who is studying civil engineering in Dhaka, had a quarrel. Unable to bear the harsh words in the name of the parents, the crime patrol hit the head with a hammer in the pattern of murder. Later, to ensure death, the veins of the arms and legs were cut with a knife and left in the bathroom, wrapped in a sheet from the house.

In this regard, Harunur Rashid (Rakibul Hasan), a Dubai expatriate husband of Mumtaz Begum Riktar, filed a case (No-19, Date-19/01/2024 AD, Section-302/201/34) at the Faridganj police station. Later, the Thana Police sent the accused Mehedi Hasan Shubo to the Chandpur court on Friday afternoon.

It is to be noted that on January 17, Mumtaz Begum Rikta, the trader of Badhubaran Beauty Parlor in Girdkalindiya Bazar of Rupsa South Union of Upazila, was brutally murdered at her father's house. Police detained his nephew Bappi and nephew Mehdi Hasan Shubo for questioning. At one point, Mehdi Hasan confessed to Shubo's murder. According to his confession, the police recovered the hammer used in the murder and the stolen goods from the pond adjacent to Charmandari Government Primary School.
