Court orders to seize assets of Evaly Rassel, wife

A Magistrate court in Dhaka has ordered the authorities concerned to seize the properties of Mohammad Rassel, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of e-commerce company Evaly, and his wife.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Farah Diba Chanda passed the order on Thursday, said the plaintiff lawyer Sakibul Islam.

The same Magistrate on March 4, issued an arrest warrant against Mohammad Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, also a co-founder, in three separate cases filed on charge of fraud as the couple did not appeared in the court.

After the court order, a petition to seize the properties of the accused has been submitted.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ali Hayder on January 15 issued an arrest warrant against Rassel and his wife Shamima Nasrin, also a co-founder, as the couple were not appeared in the court on that day.

On September 15, 2021, a customer named Arif Baker filed a money laundering case with Gulshan Police Station accusing Russel and Shamima Nasrin.

The next day, RAB raided a flat in Dhaka's Mohammadpur and arrested the couple. Later, they were shown arrested in cases filed in different police stations on charges of fraud.

Later, the couple have been freed on bail at different times.
