Consumer rights campaign in Kawkhali, four companies fined

Pirojpur district office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection has fined 4 companies 8000 taka after carrying out a raid to check the quality of products in Kawkhali, Pirojpur.

On Thursday (January 25) from morning to noon, various shops in front of Uttar Bazaar and Upazila Parishad were raided and fined.

The operation was conducted under the leadership of Debashis Roy, assistant director of Pirojpur district office of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection. At this time, Sanitary Inspector SM Elias Uddin and Kawkhali police team cooperated.

According to the sources of Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection, the National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection conducted raids at Uttar Bazar and Upazila Parishad Roads of Kawkhali Upazila as a regular part of monitoring the quality of products in the market. At that time, Chowdhury Medical Hall of North Bazar was fined Tk 2,500, Indrani Medical Hall was fined Tk 2,500, Sadhana Pharmacy in front of Upazila Parishad was fined Tk 2,000 and Mubin Fruit Store of North Bazar was fined Tk 1,000 for keeping expired fruits.

Debashis Roy, Assistant Director of the Consumer Rights Protection Department, said that three drug pharmacies and a fruit shop were fined 8,000 rupees for keeping expired medicines and porn in a consumer rights monitoring campaign that day.
