Some 53 KNF members were arrested by the army and police in two separate operations in Bandarban.

Besides, the assistant cashier of Ruma Upazila Sonali Bank is being detained and interrogated. Seven firearms, ammunition and equipment used by KNF were recovered.

On Monday afternoon, Army members raided several neighborhoods of Ruma Upazila including Bathel neighborhood and recovered weapons and ammunition.

On the other hand, on Sunday (April 7) night, the police arrested three KNF members and the driver of the car used in the robbery from Thanchi and Reicha camp in the district headquarters. The assistant cashier of Sonali Bank was identified among the arrested. His name is Lalchiam Bom.

Ruma upazila army zone commander Lt. confirmed the operation. Colonel K. M. Arafat Amin. Those arrested in the police operation are - Vannanun Moi Bom, Jemeneu Bom and Ame Lancheo Bom. Their house is in Simtlangpi neighborhood of Ruma upazila. Arrested driver. Kofil Uddin Sagar (28). His home is in Thanchi.

Bandarban Additional Superintendent of Police Raihan Kazemi said that 49 people from Ruma, three from Bandarban and one KNF member from Thanchi were arrested and brought to Bandarban district headquarters.

Meanwhile, the army-led combing operation has started in Bandarban since Sunday night. This operation is going on in Ruma Rowangchari and Thanchi upazilas of the district. 4 APCs have been brought from Dhaka in the campaign. Besides, the number of members of the security forces has been increased. In the upazilas, the situation is now stagnant.

All banking and financial institutions are closed. Besides, traffic is stopped in Ruma upazila. Markets are closing after evening. People there are now living in fear.
