The largest traditional Biju, Sangrai, Baisu, Bishu, Bihu Sankran festival of the Chittagong Hill Tracts has started. To this end, a formal inauguration and discussion meeting was held at the Rangamati Municipal Hall on Wednesday (morning.
The chief guest at the event was Barrister Debashish Roy, Circle Chief, Chakma Circle Raja. The event was inaugurated by Rangamati Zilla Parishad Chairman Krishibid Kajal Talukder.
The inaugural discussion meeting held under the chairmanship of Prakriti Ranjan Chakma, convener of the Biju, Sangrai, Baisuk, Sankran, Bishu, Bihu Udjavan Parishad, was attended by Ushatan Taludar, former MP, Vice-President of the Parbatya Chittagong Jana Sanghati Samiti, Intu Moni Taludar, member secretary of the festival committee, and leaders of various political and social organizations.
After the discussion meeting and cultural program, a colorful procession was taken out from the municipality square. The procession circled the main roads of the city and ended at the District Arts Academy of the city. In the procession, young people from different ethnic groups wore traditional costumes and showcased their culture.
People from different communities of the hill population dressed in traditional costumes and expressed their joy through dance and songs and participated in the procession.
