College student stabbed to death in Tongi, 3 muggers arrested

A college student named Jihad (20) was stabbed to death by muggers in Tongi on Sunday night. 
 
Police from Tongi West Police Station  arrested three suspects in connection with the incident.
 
The murder took place late Sunday night  on Safiuddin Road in the Auchpara area of Tongi.
 
The victim, Jihad, was the son of Jahangir Alam from Auchpara, Tongi. He was a student of Brahmanbaria Polytechnic Institute. His ancestral home is in Vangnahati village under Sreepur Municipality in Gazipur district.
The arrested suspects are identified as Abdullah (20), Swadhin (20), Alamin (24), and Anik (20) — all residents of Ershadnagar area in Tongi.
 
According to police and local sources at   11 p.m. on Sunday.
 
 Jihad left home with Tk 3,000. While walking along Safiuddin Sarkar Academy Road in Auchpara, four muggers intercepted him in an attempt to snatch his money. When Jihad resisted, the muggers stabbed him multiple times, leaving him critically injured. Locals rescued him, but he died on the way to the hospital.
 
Police later conducted a raid in Tongi’s Ershadnagar area around 1:30 a.m. and arrested three of the alleged muggers involved in the killing
 
Tongi West Police Station OC Muhammad Harunur Rashid said, the body of the college student has been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder, and they will be produced before the court.
