
Coast Guard detained main ringleader of top human trafficking gang in Teknaf

The Coast Guard has detained the main ringleader of a top human trafficking ring in Baharchhara, Teknaf.
This information was given by Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq on the night of Sunday.
The press release said, based on intelligence information, a special operation was conducted by Coast Guard Outpost Baharchara and Station Teknaf in the area adjacent to Jummapara in Baharchara under Teknaf police station of Cox's Bazar at 5 pm today, Sunday.. During the operation, the notorious Abdul Ali (50), the main mastermind of the top human trafficking ring and an accused in multiple cases, was arrested.
Initial interrogation of the arrested person revealed that a gang led by him had been kidnapping Rohingya and Bangladeshi citizens for a long time. Later, they were trafficked to various countries in the southeast, including Malaysia, in exchange for money.
The press release further said that the arrested human trafficker was handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station for further legal action. The Coast Guard's intelligence surveillance and operations are continuing to arrest other members of the trafficking ring.
