Coast Guard arrests 43 during illegal sand lfting in Chandpur

Coast Guard arrested 43 accused with 1 bulkhead, 10 dredgers, 2 speed boats and cash during illegal sand mining in Chandpur.
On Saturday (July 6, 2024) afternoon, Media Officer of the Coast Guard Headquarters Lieutenant Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi gave this information.
He said, based on secret information, Bangladesh Coast Guard and Chandpur Naval Police conducted a special operation on Saturday (6 July 2024) at 14.30 on Saturday (6 July 2024) in Meghna River near Mohanpur Launch Ghat under North Matlab Thana of Chandpur District. During the operation, 01 bulkhead, 10 dredgers, 02 speedboats and cash amount of Taka 15,41,500 (Taka fifteen lakh forty one thousand five hundred only) were seized from the said area and 43 accused were arrested. The estimated market value of seized dredgers, bulkheads and speed boats is Tk 8.3 million.
He also said that the seized bulkhead, dredger and 01 speed boat (200 cc) along with seized cash of Tk 15,41,500 (Taka fifteen lakh forty one thousand five hundred only) were handed over to North Matlab Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Hillol Chakma.
Also another seized speedboat (200cc) was kept in the custody of BCG Station Chandpur as per the instructions of North Matlab Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Hillol Chakma and 43 arrested accused were handed over to North Matlab Naval Police.
