Coasr Guard operation : Dredger, bulkhead seized, 5 fetained in Monpura

Bangladesh Coast Guard detained five individuals on Wednesday along with a dredger and a bulkhead for illegally extracting sand from the Meghna River in Monpura, Bhola.
Following a tip-off, a special operation team from the Coast Guard Outpost Monpura conducted the drive near the Nizam Miah Ghat area around 4:00 PM on Wednesday. The individuals were caught red-handed while extracting sand illegally.
Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Suzan confirmed the incident in a press release issued on Wednesday night. He stated that procedures are currently underway to take legal action regarding the detained sand miners, the seized dredger, and the bulkhead.
Bangladesh Coast Guard will continue similar drives in the future to protect agricultural land and homesteads along the riverbanks from illegal sand miners.
