The Chittagong Hill Tracts Agreement Implementation and Monitoring Committee meeting was held in Rangamati. The meeting of the 9-member committee was held at the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Rest House in Bhedbhedi, Rangamati town at 10:30 am on Saturday.
The meeting was chaired by Md. Touhid Hossain, the convener and monitoring advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Agreement Implementation Committee.
Among others present at the meeting were Supradeep Chakma, Advisor to the Ministry of Hill Affairs, Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma alias Sant Larma, Chairman of the Regional Council and Member of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Agreement Implementation Committee, and Sudatta Chakma, Member of the Agreement Implementation and Monitoring Committee and Chairman of the Task Force Khagrachhari on Repatriation and Rehabilitation of Tribal Refugees Returning to India and Identification and Rehabilitation of Internally Displaced Persons.
After the meeting that lasted for about 3 hours, he gave a press briefing to the local print and electronic media.
At the briefing, Advisor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Md. Touhid Hossain said, this is my first meeting as the head of the committee. So, it was a lot of learning for me. He commented that today's discussion was held in a very sincere and cordial atmosphere.
He said, one thing I always say is that the first step in solving a problem is to admit that there is a problem. We are trying to resolve the issues that can be easily resolved. Finding a way to resolve the difficult issues. He also said that we are trying to resolve the problems that remain in implementation.
Chairman of the Regional Council and member of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Agreement Implementation Committee Jyotirindra Bodhipriya Larma alias Sant Larma said that today's discussion was sincere and fruitful.
Present at the meeting were Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Hill Affairs Mangal Chandra Pal and Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Hill Affairs Shamsul Haque, Chairman of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board Major General (retd) Anup Kumar Chakma, Regional Council member Gautam Chakma, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Hill Affairs Konkan Chakma participated in the meeting.
